Sponsor Barbie

7 yr old Maltese

More information to come.

Sponsor Bobby

2 yr old Staffy X

I am a loving young lad with loads of energy. I wobble as I walk, it looks like I’m dancing - doing the time warp.
I have to undergo tests to see why I walk the way I do and why I am constantly tripping and falling over.
I have to say, it’s not much fun, in fact, it is quite frustrating, but I always look on the bright side of life by kissing all my humans and showering them with love.
We think it’s a neurological condition, but CT scans and other tests are required to work out where we go from here.
Bobby is such a happy loving boy, I hope you can help us to ensure he receives the help to give him a quality of life.

Sponsor Bow

14 yr old Cattle x Staffy

Bow is a beautiful loving elderly lady who has plenty of energy and is very popular, she is the friendliest girl; dog friendly, people friendly, and child friendly.
Being 13 years old she developed arthritis, but more devastating was when our vet informed us that she has cancer.
It’s only early days yet, so we are trialing different medications for cancer as well as her arthritis.
Your sponsorship will help us to cover her medical costs which I imagine, will be ongoing for quite some time.

Sponsor Buddy O

9 yr old Mini Fox Terrier

Meet Buddy, he loved his dad very much, sadly his dad passed away. He lived with his mum for one year before she to passed away leaving Buddy alone and with no-where to go.

He lived alone for several weeks whilst being fed by a supportive caring neighbour who reached out to DRN to help him. Since entering our care we have found Buddy has a level 5 heart murmur and epileptic episodes.

We believe Buddy will remain in the care of DRN because of his health issues. Your sponsorship contributions will help us pay for his medications, food and equipment.

Sponsor Coffey

10 yr old Shi-Tzu

Coffey came into DRN with ear and eye infections as well as a severe skin allergy, it was so bad she would bleed as she scratched so much.  After many vet visits and treatments we have a very happy girl.
Coffey has found her forever home and is very much loved by her new mum.  DRN will be providing her life long allergy medication to ensure she lives a long healthy and happy life.
Coffey will remain on the sponsorship program while needing this medication as it is $175 per bottle.  Your sponsorship will be making a difference to the quality of life this girl will continue to enjoy.

Sponsor Cotton

10 yr old King Charles Spaniel

Cotton and her sister Flopsy are a bonded pair. Their owner could no longer care for them and so they were surrendered to us at DRN. Unfortunately, they have some health issues that require regular medication and treatment. Flopsy is nearly $100 monthly whilst Cotton requires anal glands to be expressed regularly with a special high fibre diet.

Both will remain in the care of DRN, so your sponsorship means a lot to Cotton - thank you.

FLOYD.jpeg

Sponsor Floyd

6 yr old Bull Arab X

Floyd found himself as an unclaimed stray at the pound in a state of total shut down.
This boy was so frightened of everything that he hid behind his bed, shaking and unable to control his bodily functions.  Who knows what trauma he has endured.
Initial vet work included de-sexing and dewclaw removal, a second operation on one dewclaw was required when it failed to heal.  There is further Investigation into a pronounced limp on his right front leg.
Floyd requires monthly Adaptil collars to assist his fearfulness.
His foster brother is helping to guide Floyd and give him confidence. Each day he is getting braver, but still has a long way to go.
Adoption in the future may be possible to the right person/family.

Sponsor Freckles

16 yr old Cattle X

I’m a lovely senior gentlemen called Freckles. I have many health issues and fears which is why I need to be on the sponsorship program.

I entered DRN in January 2023 but didn’t join the sponsorship program until May 2023. I had a lump removed from my back leg which was very successful, and I must take medication daily for a heart murmur. Now I am learning how to socialise and experience new things like chase a ball, I don’t understand that one at all.

As I mature my hearing is deteriorating, but all things considered, I am one very happy senior boy.

Sponsor Jacko

17 yr old Terrier Mix

Jacko was waiting for adoption for over two years along with his mate – Tinkerbelle.  Sadly, Tinkerbelle passed away.  Jacko misses his best friend.
He loves to chase his tennis ball, but due to some arthritis, we must keep this to a minimum.
Jacko is available for adoption; however, he requires a very special home full of love, patience and a peaceful setting. Remember, he is now an old man with old man problems.

Sponsor Janey

16 yr old Maltese X

Janey was left at the pound by her owner with a filthy matted coat. It took our groomer considerable time to shave all her matted hair off.
She is a sweet, adorable girl who suffers from separation anxiety, she may require medication for this in the future, we want to try different training techniques first.
Janey is sight and hearing impaired with dental work to be undertaken in August.
Your sponsorship is much appreciated as it will assist us with her ongoing veterinary costs.

Sponsor Jock

5 yr old Pug x Bulldog

Jock has experienced a tough past with five years of many many untreated ongoing health issues. He has food allergies that we are exploring but the worst he has suffered is a long term yeast infection that has permanently damaged his skin, as well as this he has reduced hearing. His poor eye health has the potential to further reduce his eyesight which has disappointingly, already deteriorated.
Despite these challenges, Jock is a placid, loving and affectionate dog who tries his best not to be a problem.
If you can help us to help Jock your sponsorship will go towards his ongoing medical treatment, medications, vet visits, special dietary food and any other necessary care to manage his health conditions and improve his quality of life.
He will remain in the care of DRN within his current foster home and will be reassessed for adoption in the future.

Sponsor Kozzie

4 yr old Blue Cattle Dog

Hi there, my name is Kozzie and I’m adorable. So why am I on the sponsorship program you ask? I have a big nipping problem.
My foster carer, vet and DRN dog trainer is working with me so I learn what is right from wrong. I think I will be here for quite a while. As of May 2022 I am being medicated and am undergoing muzzle training. Your sponsorship will help to pay for the expensive medication and keep me healthy and safe with a full tummy.
Speaking of which, I’m a healthy happy boy and I do love tummy rubs.

I will not be available for adoption whilst I nip everyone.

13 yr old Maltese

Little Lucy has experienced what no dog should. She came to us with infected ears, she severely bites herself and suffers from anxiety, she will be closely monitored by her permanent foster mum and the vet.

Your sponsorship will help us provide Lucy with medication long term as well as any necessary treatments she may require in the future.

Lucy is settling into home life with her DRN mum, she is eating everything in sight, sleeps comfortably on her mum’s bed and enjoys her outings. Lucy is loved and adored and will never again be mistreated or be denied of anything she requires.

MARLEY.jpeg

Sponsor Marley

11 yr old Greyhound

Marley is a beautiful greyhound with gorgeous temperament.  Marley arrived into DRN care with an injury to her right shoulder rotator cuff which caused pain and a limp.
To date, Marley has required acupuncture, chiropractic adjustments, physiotherapy and pain medication.
Her treatment has been extremely costly but well worth it.
Marley also requires medication such as gabapentin & cartrophen.
Your sponsorship is very much appreciated and needed for Marley.
We are hoping Marley will one day be pain-free and be available for adoption.

Sponsor Molly T

10 yr old Golden Retriever x Border Collie

Meet Molly! She suffers from extremely severe allergies.
Molly requires multiple ear treatments a day to help her chronic (and very painful) ear infections.
Molly's allergies also impact her skin and cause severe irritation as well as bowel issues. She has lost a lot of teeth and the ones left are damaged due to the constant biting/gnawing for her allergies that she has done to her skin over the years.
These on-going issues require daily attention and a specific diet to help Molly live her best life.
Molly is a beautiful, obedient dog who loves people and enjoys going on walks. Molly is not available for adoption due to the severity of her health conditions.

9 Yr old Maltese

Oscar is an adorable boy; he does, however, have severe behavioural issues which require special care.  We are hoping that with love and patience these issues may be resolved.
He is extremely protective of his territory/home.
Oscar is in palliative care, and not available for adoption at this stage.

Sponsor Pepi

14 yr old Chihuahua

Pepi requires some dental attention, hopefully there won’t be anything too sinister found by the vet.
This boy seems to have a fear of harnesses and of being touched by human hands.  He reacts by biting, we humans are learning to respect Pepi’s space as we show him kindness and love.  The trouble is, when he bites, our broken skin seems to become infected, I’m hoping this resolves with his teeth cleaning.
We are unsure of what he endured in the past, but he definitely has self protection mechanisms in place that we are learning about very quickly.
At the moment we require help to cover the cost of medication to help calm him down and lower his anxiety levels.  We are hoping to wean him off this eventually.
At this stage Pepi will remain in the care of DRN.

New-Princess.jpeg

Sponsor Princess

13 yr old Papillon X

Our vet has diagnosed Princess with Cushings Syndrome which requires ongoing vet care with monthly blood testing, along with expensive daily medication called Trilostane.
She also has skin and coat issues which need close monitoring and treatment as required.
As if that’s not enough, we must regularly monitor lumps that are covering her body.
Princess has a big personality and loves to share lots of kisses.  She also LOVES water and is in it when she can be, body or foot, it doesn’t matter.
Due to her ongoing and expensive medical requirements, your sponsorship is much appreciated, no matter how big or small.
Princess is in palliative care, and and is not available for adoption.

PUDDING.jpeg

Sponsor Pudding

5 yr old Border Collie x Staffy

This little fellow was born within DRN.  His mum was surrendered while pregnant.
Pudding was born a normal, healthy little puppy.  Sadly Pudding somehow contracted a bacterial infection; which there is a one in one thousand chance of contracting, and yes, he was unlucky enough to contract this.  The bacterial infection caused his spine to fuse together.  As he enters his senior years it will become evident whether or not it affects his other body parts as they will need to work a little differently to the normal, healthy dog.
Pudding visited the Small Animal Specialist Hospital known as SASH for a CT Scan.  This cost is quite high, so we are asking for people like you to sponsor Pudding short term to cover the expense.
Pudding is available for adoption.

ROSIE.jpeg

Sponsor Rosie K

12 yr old Shih Tzu

Sadly Rosie’s needs were not being met as she had been neglected and left outside with hardly any shelter.
She has long term problems in her eyes and ears; and her little body is covered in warts, poor baby.
At the moment, she is also suffering from skin allergies and is on a special diet. So your sponsorship is much appreciated.
At this stage, it is unknown if she will be available for adoption or remain with DRN in palliative care.

Sponsor Sally

13 yr old Chihuahua x Mini Fox Terrier

This mum and daughter team were adopted from DRN 7 years ago. Sadly their owner passed away, and police found them after a week of living in the home without food and attention.  The experience has been traumatic for both Sally and Pippa which has affected them.
Our professional trainers are working with our DRN carer and these two little ladies to help them overcome their anti-social behaviours and fears.  We also believe being forcibly removed from their home by police has only added to their confusion and stress.
The vet also needed to extract four teeth from Sally’s mouth, which only added to her stress.

Sponsor Tiddles

9 yr old Chihuahua X

This lovely girl was in such bad condition when DRN rescued her due to abuse.  She needed to gain a kilo before she could even be vaccinated.
Tiddles is now a happy, loving girl in her foster home; however she is still fearful of strangers and will hide when someone comes to her house.
Tiddles is in palliative care, and not available for adoption.

Sponsor Tiffany

15.5 yr old Chihuahua

Tiffany found herself in the care of DRN through no fault of her own. Her mum passed away and there was nobody who could take her into their care, so lucky for her she found her way into a foster carers home to be loved and cared for. Due to her medical issues, she will remain with her DRN foster carer until she passes away. Thank you for sponsoring this little lady.

Sponsor Zoe

9 yr old Maltese X

Zoe came into care after the passing of her elderly parents. Her special needs meant that she required special care and was brought to DRN.
Eating is extremely difficult for Zoe, as she was born with a severe cleft palate, meaning that food can get caught and she has a high risk of infection and choking.
She is quirky and grumpy with cat-like mannerisms and a behavioural attitude.
Zoe is in palliative care, and not available for adoption.
